Puratan Maryada of Sikhi (PuratanM.com) and Traditional Dharmic Truth Seeker (YouTube) are humble efforts to share knowledge on Sikh traditions and practices that have witnessed unfortunate marginalization, abandonment and/or other adverse impacts since the chaotic days of colonial rule in South Asia. The Sikh community in the diaspora, particularly our generation, which includes those who were either born, raised or have studied outside of South Asia, often have to contend with the enormous challenge of traversing conflicting information, superficial answers and mistranslated quotes from religious texts. There are also prevailing narratives that tend to stigmatize the deep and rich pre-colonial Sikh customs and practices which make up our rich past. Unfortunately, even some of the “reliable” sources of information sometimes tend to misrepresent or distort facts for varied reasons, at times creating a sense of contradiction between two or more pieces of information. While none of us are free from biases, it is very easy for us to cling strongly to a particular sect or group bias and reject genuine or historical information. Some rich traditions of the Khalsa Panth are unfortunately no longer intact or they have become heavily modified over the passage of time. This website and it’s associated YouTube channel (sites) are independent efforts where analysis of old literature, artefacts, books and manuscripts is shared with the community. Puratan (old) Sikh traditions and practices are highlighted and information on them is shared wherever possible. Careful efforts are made to translate Gurbani and passages of historical literature as truthfully and as accurately as possible. While these efforts are made with a high level of commitment, strict dedication and emphasis to convey/portray the information truthfully and accurately, there is always a possibility for there to be some inaccuracies, biases, mistakes, or human errors. PuratanM.com and Traditional Dharmic Truth Seeker on YouTube are not officially affiliated with any group, organization, order or sect, but hold the utmost respect and regard for all of the upholders of Puratan Maryada and Sikh practices. PuratanM.com and Traditional Dharmic Truth Seeker has the utmost regard and respect for the Takht Sachkhand Sri Hazur Sahib in Nanded, Maharashtra, the Nihang orders, Takht Sri Harimandir Ji in Patna, Bihar and many other Jathebandis, Sants, groups and sects who have worked tirelessly to preserve and promote the Puratan Sikh Maryada given to us by our Gurus.
